Getting Married in Essex
My Complete Guide to wedding venues in Essex
Are you planning a wedding in Essex? If so, I may be able to help. Across my career I've been lucky to photograph dozens of weddings in the area & I reckon I've got a decent idea of what works well on a wedding day. There are many ways to celebrate your wedding & the memories are the same no matter how you choose to do it.
Essex is a regular stop for me & again there is a huge choice of venues from the local register office, marquee in the garden, hotels, barns, outdoor weddings, DIY vibes, winter weddings & lots more.
I've been to most places over the years – Colchester, Brentwood, Chelmsford, Southend, Braintree, Epping & many more.

Here are a few of my favourite venues I've been lucky to get to in Essex in the last few years:
Apton Hall

Beautifully maintained venue near Southend with a rustic feel. Lots of onsite rooms & it feels modern yet vintage at the same time.
Gaynes Park
If you're looking for a barn wedding or for outdoor space Gaynes Park is somewhere I would really recommend. Beautiful grounds & you have exclusive use of the entire place & it's pretty big – love going here.

Holiday Inn, Southend
I wasn't sure what to expect on my first trip to this hotel which is located right next to the airport, but I really like it – plus last time I talked the couple into going into the McDonald's across the road for a few photos.

The Great Lodge
Another rural wedding venue not far from Braintree with a barn & amazing grounds with so many photo ops – plus indoor & outdoor ceremony options.

Channels
Beautiful outdoor ceremony space if the weather is on your side, or there is a large barn function room if you prefer that feel.

Gosfield Hall (near Braintree)
This place has the largest bridal suite I've ever seen, there are pillars actually in the room. Good for an indoor or outdoor ceremony with a beautiful upstairs dining room. Also big fan of the stone Stags outside.
